They're trying to gentrify small-town America - and let's just say they encounter some pushback."

This time, they're more like millennial hipsters from Austin who are very entrepreneurial and have a dream of getting away from the city and back to the countryside. Back in the '70s, the hippies were representing the youth of the city. "I think the first movie really hit a nerve when portraying that culture clash between the countryside and the city. It mixes a lot of important real-life issues with horror themes, which is always something I love." It's about a group of people who come to this town and things don't quite go as planned. Our fatal flaw is that we ignore the history that came before us."Īctress Elsie Fisher continues, "The film takes place a long time after the original Texas Chainsaw. Here's some of what was said:Īctress Sarah Yarkin explains, "Me and my business partner Dante are these young hip people that come to this ghost town in Texas and try to get other people to come there and make it the next hip place to be. Some of the cast and crew had a recent interview, where they explained more about the film's story. On set, every morning I would walk by the prop cart, touch it and get its blessing for the day. I will say that we shot with one of the original, working Poulan chainsaws from the original film. I swear some stuff just happened and it’s kind of freaky. It’s also a subtle way of letting the fans know they’re in good hands." He goes on to talk briefly on the nods this movie will have to the original, saying: "I can’t wait for fans to analyze and find all of the callbacks, some of which aren’t even intentional. John’s voice is iconic in the original opening and we thought it would help set the perfect tone in our own intro. On Larroquette returning, director David Blue Garcia was quoted saying: "It felt important to honor the original ‘TCM’ at every opportunity. Fans may remember he voiced the news brief at the start of the original 1974 movie and also returned for the 2003 remake. John Larroquette reportedly returns to voice the opening of the film. In 2017 there was yet another prequel, Leatherface, which failed to generate any real buzz.Netflix will debut the film via their streaming service. Then there was the confusing (and terrible) Texas Chainsaw 3D, which was apparently meant to be a direct sequel to the original movie although the timeline didn't add up at all (for instance: star Alexandra Daddario, who was 25 at the time of release and looked even younger, was supposed to be playing a character about to turn 40). That remake spawned a prequel (which was not pretty good, all things considered). The film spawned several sequels, and then a 2003 remake (which I thought was pretty good, all things considered). Released in 1974, Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a horror classic that still has the power to terrify and disturb. Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Jacob Latimore, and Moe Dunford star. If it is, you can rest assured that the sisters will find themselves running afoul of Leatherface and his cannibal redneck family, too. However, all of the Tohill's footage has been thrown out, so I'm not 100% sure how much of that is still accurate. The version the Tohills were making was reportedly about a woman who drags her teenage sister out to Texas on a business trip.
